Wheat sowing up 4.28 per cent at 202.54 lakh hectares so far

As per the ministry's latest data, wheat was sown in 8.34 lakh hectare more area so far in the ongoing rabi (winter) season.

According to Crisil, after two consecutive years of normal monsoon, India received below-normal rains in 2018, both in terms of spatial distribution and timeliness. As per Ministry of Agriculture, total kharif crop acreage has crossed 975 lakh hectares as on August 23, which is down by 2.3 per cent from corresponding period last year. Jul retail inflation eases to 3.15 pc; experts advise caution

Retail inflation was 3.18 per cent in June 2019, while it stood at 4.17 per cent in year-ago period (July 2018).

As per the latest sowing data maintained by the Union Agriculture Ministry, total acreage sown to all Kharif crops so far has remained lower at 869.55 lakh hectare as against 918.70 lakh hectare in the year-ago.
