Sensex starts over 170 points higher; Nifty tests 11,900

The 30-share index pared some gains to trade 58.59 points, or 0.15 per cent, higher at 40,342.78.

The 30-share index, which opened on a firm note, turned negative in afternoon session before ending 72.50 points, or 0.18 per cent, down at 40,284.19.

The broader NSE Nifty rose 23.35 points, or 0.20 per cent, to end at 11,895.45.

After rallying over 363 points during the day, the 30-share Sensex ended 70.21 points, or 0.17 per cent, higher at 40,356.69.

The broader NSE Nifty slipped 33.20 points, or 0.28 per cent, to 11,807.25.
Market turns jittery on weak macro data, global cues

After opening on a positive note, the 30-share index turned choppy to trade 54.61 points, or 0.14 per cent, lower at 40,061.45.

The broader NSE Nifty fell 73 points, or 0.61 per cent, to end at 11,840.45.

The 30-share Sensex ended 229.02 points, or 0.57 per cent, lower at 40,116.06.

The broader NSE Nifty advanced 9.40 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 11,922.85.

Financial markets will resume trading on Wednesday, November 13.

Private bank and disinvestment related stocks closed higher. The currency was at 71.45 and 10 years Bond Yield was at 6.56, which is negative for the market, if these hold at the same levels for the next few days, analysts said.
