Kerala Tourism seeks to fish in Karnataka’s political waters

In an attempt to make some real profit out of the unclear Karnataka assembly poll verdict, the Kerala Tourism hit the Twitter to make an offer to the newly elected members of Vidhana Soudha – come an unwind in the Gods Own Country.

It could not be ascertained if Union tourism minister Alphons Kannanthanam, who belongs to Kerala, was behind the tweet, which went viral on the micro-blogging site. Within hours, it was retweeted over 5,500 times and liked by more than 9,000 people.

“After the rough and tumble of the #KarnatakaVerdict, we invite all MLAs to unwind at the safe and beautiful resorts of God’s Own Country,” Kerala Tourism tweeted with a ‘Come Out And Play’ hashtag. While netizens were sparring over the tweet, some seasoning it with their own spices to the now common horse-trading business of politics, the Congress and the JD(S) decided to host MLAs at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangalore.

According to sources, they will be herded to the airport in special coaches on Wednesday morning to be shifted out to Kochi, till the political turmoil settles down. Brunton Boatyard in the Kochi Island is said to be the ‘safe’ destination, sour-ces said. Earlier, Goa was under consideration, but it was rejected on the ‘safety’ grounds, sources added.
