The car will compete against Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Jaguar XE and Volvo S60 in the country
BMW, India’s second biggest German luxury maker by sales, on Thursday introduced new BMW 320d Edition Sport to take on market leader Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo brands in Asia’s third biggest car market.
With a price band of Rs 38.60 lakh at pan India, the BMW 320d Edition Sport will compete against rivals such as the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Jaguar XE and Volvo S60 in the country.
Pricewise, BMW 320d Edition Sport slots between the entry-level 320d Prestige variant priced at Rs 36.30 lakh and both Sport Line and Luxury Line priced at Rs 41.30 lakh. The 320d Edition Sport also becomes the sixth diesel variant, taking the total count of the bread-and-butter 3 Series variants to eight.
The new addition to the 3-series portfolio will offer potential BMW customers a well balanced line-up to choose from.
“With the launch of the new BMW 320d Edition Sport, we go a step further in presenting a well-balanced portfolio of the BMW 3 Series,” Vikram Pawah, president at BMW Group India said.
The latest generation BMW twinpower turbo diesel engine of the BMW 320d Edition Sport gives a thrilling power delivery and excellent responsiveness, which guarantees sheer driving pleasure on the road, he said.
“Agility and driving dynamics remain the outstanding disciplines of the new BMW 3 Series,” Pawah said.
With its outstanding sporting characteristics and design, the BMW 320d Edition Sport amplifies the sporty and dynamic character of the BMW 3 Series. The new 3-series is locally produced at BMW factory in Chennai and can be ordered from BMW dealerships in the country from today onwards.
Under the bonnet, the BMW 320d Edition Sport features a 4-cylnder, 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 190hp and 400Nm of torque. It also comes equipped with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, and for even greater driving pleasure, the eight-speed Steptronic transmission is available with steering wheel paddle shifters. It can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 7.2 seconds before going on to hit a top speed of 250 kmph. The company claims that the sedan is also capable of returning an impressive fuel efficiency of 22.69 kmpl.
The new BMW 320d Edition Sport features an electric glass sunroof and a 205W, nine-speaker music system. It also comes with a Launch Control function as standard.
The vehicle’s safety features include six air bags, anti-lock braking system with brake assist, dynamic stability control including dynamic traction control, cornering brake control, side-impact protection, ISOFIX child seat mounting, runflat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, emergency spare wheel, electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensor.
The new BMW 320d Edition Sport comes standard with BMW connected drive features such as iDrive controller and a 16.5 cms colour display with CD drive, BMW Apps, connectivity through Bluetooth and USB/AUX IN connectivity, rear view camera along with park distance control rear.
