GMR-Megawide short-listed for $250m Philippine airport finance bid

A GMR group company along with its partner, Manila-based Megawide, and four other firms were on Thursday shortlisted for submitting financial bid for the $250 million Clark International Airports new terminal building project in Philippines.

“Out of seven companies, five complied with the requirement of the government. This is according to the (technical bids) submission that were made last Tuesday,” an official of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a live-streaming session.

Policies must back women in work force: Ivanka

Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of and adviser to US President Donald Trump, has batted for formulation of policies that support greater participation of women in workforce. She even referred to technology that can be used to allow women to work from kitchens and help reduce the gender gap. “I think it’s incredibly important that policies support modern families... We need to start thinking about ways to support the modern workforce and the modern reality in household. I think technology is a great driver,” she said.

Mittal believes Trai will have another round of talks

In the wake of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Trai) recommendation on prohibiting the internet service providers from making any discrimination in traffic while providing web access by either blocking or throttling some apps, websites and services or by offering fast lanes to others, Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal has said that he was not aware of the regulator’s proposal on bringing app-based calling and messaging services under the licensing regime, but believed that it would have another round of consultation on the matter.

Tech Mahindra hopes to touch USD 5 billion in revenues in FY18

IT major Tech Mahindra today said it expects to outgrow  Nasscom's industry growth projection and may touch USD 5 billion mark in revenues during the current fiscal.

Noting that there is a skill gap among employees, C P Gurnani, Managing Director and CEO of Tech Mahindra, also said the company is geared up to reskill about 50,000 employees for the present and future requirements.

"We will beat the Nasscom projections. Tech Mahindra will beat Nasscom projections. Whatever Nasscom has projected 6-8 per cent, we should be higher than that.

Dr Reddy’s Lab Q2 down 1% as price erosion in US hurts

Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit was marginally down by 1.13 per cent to Rs 305.4 crore for the September quarter, owing to price erosion and channel consolidation in the North American market.

The drug major had posted a net profit of Rs 308.9 crore in July-September a year ago, Saumen Chakraborty, president, CFO and global head of HR of Dr Reddy's told reporters here. DRLs total revenue from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 3,559.8 crore, down 1.56 per cent, as against Rs 3,616.3 crore a year ago, he said.

Sindhu, Saina, Srikanth retained by old teams in PBL auction

Each retained player gets a 25 per cent hike in his/her salary from last year, while players who are bought by using the Right-To-Match card only get a 10 per cent increase from the last year’s selling price. Economy needs early growth push

Sounding optimistic about the economy bouncing back in the coming months, former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor C Rangarajan on Sunday said the economy needs to “pick up very fast” to be able to maintain a healthy annual growth. The government needs to take quick measures to push the growth, he said.

21st GST Council meet in Hyderabad on Sep 9: official

The next GST Council meeting will be held here on September 9, a senior official in Telangana government said today.

This will be the third meeting of the council since the launch of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on July 1 and the 21st since it was set up in September last year.

"The meeting will be held in Hyderabad. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be heading the meeting. The agenda will be fixed soon," the official told PTI.
