Mahindra unveils KUV100 NXT at Rs 4.39 lakh

Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s biggest sports utility vehicle maker by sales, on Tuesday introduced the facelift of its KUV100 hatchback, the KUV100 NXT to generate more sales during the on-going festive season and beyond.

Though technically still a hatchback, Mahindra continues to call it its smallest SUV. The KUV100 which created a new SUV-like segment was first launched in January 2016.

Mercedes India’s top luxury car maker

It’s the battle of German titans in India and Mercedes-Benz has come out trumps.

The car maker, which has launched 10 products this year with two more in the offing, has retained pole position in India’s fiercely competitive luxury car market.

Compatriot and archrival BMW, which once ruled the roost but was pushed to the third rank, has clawed back to occupy the second slot. It has done so at the cost of another compatriot, German luxury car maker Audi, which is now in the third position. 

A tale of two cities

Mumbai, the financial capital of India and neighbouring Pune region, have emerged as the country’s two top residential markets. In doing so, they have edged out Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi.

According to trend reports and developers in both the cities, residential sales in the first half of this year in Pune have remained stable while good traction in the compact homes category has helped Mumbai come closer to first half sales figures of 2016.

Audi India launches three new models, expands portfolio

Audi, India’s second biggest luxury carmaker by sales, on Thursday expanded its India line-up by introducing the second generation all new A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet and S5 Sportback at Rs 54.02 lakh, Rs 67.51 lakh and Rs 70.60 lakh, respectively at any showroom in the country.

While the A5 Cabriolet rivals the Mercedes-Benz C 300 Cabriolet, the A5 Sportback will be a more stylish take on the A4 sedan, without any direct rivals at this price point in Asia’s third biggest car market.

Mahindra launches W9 variant of XUV500

Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s biggest utility vehicle maker by sales, on Wednesday launched a new W9 variant of its popular SUV Mahindra XUV500 to cash in on the festive season which accounts for about 25 per cent of the total annual car sales in the country.

Priced at Rs 15.45 lakh at Delhi showroom, essentially, Mahindra has loaded the new Mahindra XUV500 W9 and at the same time made it a slightly more affordable. This move is clearly to counter the newfound popularity of the recently launched Jeep Compass in the country.

Mercedes-Benz introduces sporty and dynamic ‘Edition C’

Mercedes Benz, India’s largest luxury car manufacturer by sales, on Tuesday expanded its C-Class portfolio with the addition of the new Edition C priced between Rs 42.54 lakh and Rs 46.87 lakh at showrooms pan India to push sales during the on-going festive season.

The Pune-headquartered automobile major has made a series of cosmetic upgrades on the interior and exterior for the new edition cars, which will have exclusive 'Edition C' badges at the rear.

Mahindra forays into road construction equipment biz

Mahindra and Mahindra, the automobile major, has forayed into the growing road construction equipment segment with the launch of what it claims to be first of its kind Motor Grader, the Mahindra RoadMaster G75. It has already sold 50 units, which will be delivered to customers this month.

The company has so far invested Rs 150 crore in its construction equipment business and it is planning to invest more with new product launches slated during the fourth quarter.

Automobile manufacturers in Asia’s third biggest car market have lined up a slew of enticing new models and refreshes to lure buyers in this on-going auspicious festival season.

While Tata Motors, India’s biggest automaker by revenues, launched its first compact sports utility vehicle or SUV Nexon little over a week ago which marked the start of the Navratri festival, Maruti Suzuki, country’s largest car maker by sales introduced Maruti S-Cross facelift last week-end.

Toyota Kirloskar launches new Etios Cross X-Edition

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the subsidiary of the world’s third largest carmaker by sales, has introduced a special edition of the Etios Cross, the X Edition, for this festive season to beat the growing tough competition and to lure buyers.

The special-limited-edition Etios Cross gets new brown exterior paint shade, all-black cabin, some cosmetic changes, and new 6.8-inch infotainment system. The car is a cross between a hatchback and SUV, designed to attract aspirational youngsters in the country.

WagonR crosses 20 lakh sales milestone

Maruti Suzuki, India’s biggest car maker by sales, said that its compact hatchback WagonR has crossed the 2 million cumulative sales mark, 18 years after the model was launched in Asia’s third largest car market.

WagonR is the company’s third model to achieve this sales feat after Maruti 800 and Alto.

Launched in 1999, the WagonR is one of the best-selling vehicles in India. It has nearly always featured on the monthly list of top 10 best-selling cars in the country for the last 10 years.
