Eicher Trucks targets e-comm with new vehicles

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Eicher Trucks & Buses, part of VE Commercial Vehicles, on Wednesday introduced a range of light and medium duty trucks, aggressively targeting the fast-growing e-commerce industry.

The five new variants in the Pro 1000 and Pro 3000 series range are Pro 1110, Pro 1110XP, Pro 1110XP, Pro 3012/3014 and Pro 3015.

These vehicles are specifically designed keeping in view the specific needs of the sector from long haul to short haul and last mile delivery.

Lexus bullish on India

Lexus, the luxury brand from Japanese giant car manufacturer Toyota, is bullish on India despite its late entry into the growing luxury car market.

Last weekend, Lexus showcased a brand new hybrid sports utility vehicle (SUV) – NX 300h. It is the smallest Lexus model that will be available in India and the third hybrid model after the RX 450h SUV and the ES 300h sedan.

M&M launches refreshed Scorpio

Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s second biggest sports utility vehicle maker by sales, has introduced the much-anticipated refreshed Mahindra Scorpio, its iconic SUV, to boost sales in the fiercely competitive growing SUV market in Asia’s third biggest economy.

With a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh at showroom in Pune, the facelifted Scorpio competes with Tata Safari Storme, the Renault Duster, and the newly launched Renault Captur and the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market.

Vehicle seat-maker Adient to set up Rs 190cr testing centre in Pune

Adient, the $16.2-billion automotive seating supplier, is investing Rs 190 crore ($30 million) to set up a state-of-the-art automotive seating prototyping and testing facility in India to cater to its global business and local industry.

The new facility, slated to open late next year in Pune, will be of global scale. The American multinational designs, manufactures and markets a range of seating systems and components for almost all modes of vehicles. The construction of its new facility marks a major expansion for its technical centre in Pune.

Tractor firms eye 15.5% sales growthq

Tractor manufacturers in India, who sold 15.5 per cent more farm machines between April and October, are likely to hit a high of 15 per cent sales growth in FY18. Industry experts said the industry sold 4,54,454 tractors in Asia’s third biggest economy in April-October and the sector is set to end FY18 with a 15 per cent growth (6,70,271 units) over FY17.

Bharat Forge net rises 61%; to issue 1:1 bonus shares

Bharat Forge, the world’s biggest forging company, on Wednesday reported that its net profit for the three months to September rose by 60.5 per cent to Rs 203.72 crore, thanks to higher income and operational performance. This was marginally higher than the Rs 200 crore estimated by analysts tracked by Bloomberg.

The Pune-headquartered auto components major had posted a net profit at Rs 126.89 crore during the same quarter last year, Bharat Forge said in a regulatory filing.

Automakers say rising metal prices no threat to e-vehicles

Top automakers say despite prices of metals like copper, nickel, lead, lithium, cobalt, graphite and manganese used in batteries to run vehicle rising, it would not impact sales of electric vehicles in the country.

They said overall technologies are improving, and with volumes rising prices will come down making electric vehicles attractive and reduce air pollution.

Mercedes unveils facelifts of AMG CLA & GLA 45

Mercedes-Benz, India’s biggest German luxury carmaker by sales  introduced facelifts of Mercedes AMG CLA 45 4Matic Coupe and Mercedes AMG GLA 45 4Matic SUV priced at Rs 75.20 lakh and Rs 77.85 lakh at pan India showroom, respectively.

Interestingly, the prices of the refreshed CLA 45 and GLA 45 are unchanged.

However, the respective Aero edition models of the CLA 45 and GLA 45 are priced at Rs 77.69 lakh and Rs 80.67 lakh.

The Aero editions of the Pune-headquartered brand feature a high level of customer customisation.

Mahindra Powerol launches generators

Mahindra Powerol, a business unit of the $19 billion Mahindra Group, on Monday forayed into the lucrative higher capacity diesel generators (DG) segment with the launch of new range of 250 and 320 kva DGs to target 10 per cent growth in one year.

The Mumbai-based company had clocked a sales turnover of Rs 1,250 crore in FY17, a growth of 10 per cent over FY16. But the genset industry in the country was flat due to slow down in telecom industry.
