The broader NSE Nifty tumbled 107.65 points, or 0.91 per cent, to 11,724.10.
A ban imposed by BSE on the futures and options contracts on Jet Airways shares lapsed on Friday.
The broader NSE Nifty was quoting 32.25 points, or 0.27 per cent, down at 11,799.50.
After gyrating over 700 points during the day, the BSE gauge settled 488.89 points, or 1.25 per cent, higher at 39,601.63.
The 30-share index, however, pared some losses and was trading 34.59 points, or 0.09 per cent, lower at 39,078.15.
After rebounding over 150 points in opening session, the 30-share index pared gains to trade marginally higher at 38,969.76.
At NSE, shares plunged 17.94 per cent to a multi-year low of Rs 67.
The 30-share index was trading 175.29 points, or 0.44 per cent, lower at 39,276.78.
Stock exchanges will impose restrictions on trading in Jet Airways shares from June 28.
