In the first phase of the festive sale, E-commerce companies are estimated to have registered sales of close to USD 3 billion.

Both, the “Big Billion Days” sale and Amazon’s “Great Indian Festival”, will finish on Oct 4, according to their websites.

Amazon reported record sales of about 7.5 billion rupees (USD 7.07 million) in 36 hours in the premium smartphone brands category.

Amazon said it has created seasonal positions in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Pune.

Flipkart has added over 50,000 direct jobs across its supply chain, logistics arm and customer support.

The Big Billion Days (TBBD), which will be held from September 29 to October 4, will see the company taking its "expansive selection to about 19,000 pin codes in the country," said Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.
