Suzlon Energy bags `2,000 cr orders

worth over $403 million (approximately Rs 2,000 crore) for supply of wind turbines to Indian, American and Brazil­ian companies.

“The cumulative orders which will be delivered in the financial year 2012-13 are valued at approximately Rs 2,000 crore,” a Suzlon Energy spokesperson told Financial Chro­n­icle. He said Suzlon group had received a total of 269 mw project orders over the past one mont­h, excluding the orders announced separately. The company bagged 80 mw worth of orders in India and a total of 189 mw worth of orders in Brazil and the US. The spokesperson said the order size ranges from 0.6 mw to 121 mw and comprises turbines from Suzlon’s latest S9X suite, amo­ng other S-series models. “These ord­ers reiterate not only the dynamic and rapidly growing Indian wind sector, but also Suzlon's pre­s­e­nce in emerging econom­ies and competitive markets such as Brazil and the US,” Suzlon Energy founder, chairman and managing director Tulsi Tanti said in a statement. He said Brazil was an important market for the company under its focus on emerging economies.

“Over the past few months, the company has been receiving strong and regular orders, which will increase its global wind business,” Alex Mathew, research head at Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services, told FC.
