Sterling launches luxe vacation homes

Sterling Construction Systems (SCS) has launched its Warai Woods project in Neral, just outside Mumbai. The project is being positioned as a weekend destination.
This is the third project by the company in the recent past. The company’s first project, called Tuscany Terraces, also a weekend destination project, came up in Neral. The second project was the Tanaji Malusare City in Karjat, an affordable housing project strategically priced at Rs 3 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7 lakh for a 300 sq ft (one room-kitchen), 500 sq ft (one-bedroom) and 700 sq ft (two-bedroom) apartments, respectively.
Warai Woods will have luxury vacation homes “inspired by the Swiss Alpine forest architecture offering exotic Chalets in a forest environment,” according to a company spokesman. It is located 6 km from Neral station, which is a 90-minute drive by local transport from south Mumbai.
The cost of a single chalet works out to around Rs 1.6 crore and twin chalets cost Rs 1.2 crore per unit. The area of a single chalet is 2,384 sq ft built-up area and the twin chalet is 1,882 sq ft built up. SCS has already sold 15 chalets. Construction of a chalet begins only after a person books it and makes the payment, because it is custom-made.
The company intends to build 44 single chalets and 92 twin chalets in the first phase. In the second phase, it plans to build 40 single chalets and 59 twin chalets. “Since the company is positioning the chalets as a weekend destination, it might be able to sell,” said a Mumbai-based property consultant.
“With changing lifestyles and mounting stress levels in the metros, a number of people want to break free over the weekend and go to their second home, usually in an idyllic setting. The trend is changing fast and the demand for luxurious properties is increasing. The Indian real estate sector is transitioning from affordable everyday homes to vacation homes that unleash an enduring experience, de-stressing and revitalising the body and mind,” said a company spokesman.
