The elegant and sophisticated collection includes plush sofa sets, double beds, Obama study table and lampshades

Lending a touch of White House
What would it be like to have the same furniture in your house as the Obamas have? Needless to say, the furniture will be an object of envy among your neighbours. But how will this happen?

Angelika Kriplani, Interior designer and managing director, sales and design, Renaissance Homez, has imported the furniture in collaboration with American company Bakers Furniture. Kriplani has also done interiors for well-known personalities like Vijay Mallya, Juhi Chawla and Feroze Gujral.

The White House collection includes plush sofa sets, double beds, Obama study table, lampshades and much more. She has been in the importing business for about 14 years now.

“This is an exclusive collection that is actually displayed in the White House. It is elegant, sophisticated and caters to the discerning people. The collection has a fusion look,” said Kriplani.

Renaissance Homez offers a complete range for home décor varying from furniture to accessories in various periods, styles and international influences. Available under one roof, you have access to unlimited offering including elegant furniture, rich fabrics, fabulous lighting and scores of exquisite accessories from renowned international brands.

The vast range of furniture includes Baker and Henredon, which are among the best known furniture companies in the United States. Each piece is aesthetically pleasing and designed to withstand the test of time. It is furniture truly worthy of those who appreciate the finest.

These furniture lines are uniquely complemented by McGuire (wicker) Donghia (modern designs), Sligh (executive and home office furniture), Milling Road (the country look), Fiam & Gambarovetri (glass furniture), Mirror Fair (mirrors), fine art lamps (lamps), Codutti (office solution) and Elite (restaurant furniture).

As far as upholstery and drapery are concerned, the company gets Beacon Hill and Robert Allen Fabrics, besides importing from Italy, Spain and England.

When asked what made her think of bringing the collection to India, she says Indian customers should know that they can now get the best home accessories and furniture in the industry. She further says that as Indian customers get influenced very soon and they lose their focus, the company has launched the furniture first.

The various furniture items have been made from different kinds of wood such as mahogany, maple and cherry. “Most of the fabric used in the furniture is scotch-guarded and the chances of them getting dirty is very rare,” Kriplani says. Despite it being the latest trend of adopting bright colours like purple and maroon, the colour scheme of the collection is very subdued and primarily white and dark brown. On this, Kriplani says that these colour trends keep on changing every season but basic colours for furniture remains the same and are never out of fashion. Moreover, these colour patterns are more suited for home accessories, and not for furniture.
