This is even as Larsen & Toubro moved to Supreme Court against Delhi High Court ruling that quashed company’s plea against disqualification from NTPC’s bulk procurement tender.

While rejecting stay on opening of price bids for steam turbine generators, apex court posted the matter or hearing on October 25.

Alstom placed a winning bid of Rs 9,500 crore to supply turbine generators. Quotes of other bidders were not available immediately.

BHEL-Siemens and Toshiba-JSW will be awarded four and two units of 660-mw each respectively, a senior NTPC official said.

NTPC had floated Rs 20,000 crore tenders to procure turbine generators for five plants. Equipment is being sourced for power generating units at five plants Mouda, Solapur, Nabinagar Meja projects of NTPC and Ragunathpur project of DVC.

Meanwhile, NTPC is evaluating technical bids for Rs 25,000 crore tender to supply supercritical boilers to the 11 units. L&T Power and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, GB Engineering-Ansaldo consortium, BGR Energy-Hitachi and BHEL-Alstom have responded to NTPC’s fresh notice inviting tender floated on June 25, 2010.

Fresh technical bids for boilers were floated following L&T’s disqualification from the tender on technical parameters. BHEL was the only bidder left in fray.
