Maharashtra govt reduces VAT on diesel, kerosene

In a bid to provide relief to consumers hit by recent fuel price hike,

Maharashtra government today decided to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel and kerosene by two per cent.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet here, chaired by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.

Following the decision, diesel prices in Maharashtra are expected to reduce by 72 paise per litre and those of kerosene by 28 paise.
