the country. For this, the ministry is roping in Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Corporate Affairs to work on the investor-manual.

“We have already started discussing with various parties how we wish to start this programme. The minister (read Salman Khurshid) has also approved it,” R Bandyopadhyay, secretary MCA told Financial Chronicle in an interview.

The programme, aimed at everyone above 18 years of age, would involve steps on how to invest in stock markets, things to look out for before investing, how to open a D-mat account among others.

The training programme would be conducted in all major cities as well as smaller ones such as Kanpur, Ludhiana, Aurangabad, Jhansi and Lucknow. “It would not be restricted to bigger metropolitan cities but would include smaller ones as well,” Bandyopadhyay said.

Once the programme kick-starts, “it would be a continuous process from our side. Our aim is to hold such programmes at least five times a year for every big state,” he added. The programme would start by mid-October this year.

The ministry is also consulting various universities and management schools to give tips on the broad contours of the syllabi. Investors can get all the information without having to fish out a single penny. “It would be a free programme for all interested parties,” Bandyopadhyay said.

All regional offices of the ministry would be responsible for organising these events. “On October 1, we called a meeting of all regional directors and registrar of companies. The programme would start within fortnight after the meeting,” Bandyopadhyay added.
