Tata Motors, India’s biggest automaker by sales, will showcase Indicruz, a crossover, at the Auto Expo New Delhi from January 05-11, 2010, its top official said.

“Tata Indicruz will be showcased at the Auto Expo in New Delhi January 5, 2010”, SG Saksena, head of Utility Vehicles Product Group, said on the sidelines of the launch of Sumo Grande MK II in the city on Thursday.

According to industry estimates the price of the Indicruz was likely to be 20 per cent more than Sumo Grande MK II, which carries a price tag of Rs 6.65-7.66 lakh at Mumbai dealerships.

Saksena said Indicruz would be positioned in the market to compete with Volvo XC 90, Honda CRV and General Motor’s Captiva. It will be the company’s first multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and a cross over of three existing models. The vehicle will come with features such as airbags, cruise control and automatic climate control. He said it would be priced competitively as all these utility vehicles were priced around Rs 20-25 lakh each.

“Our engineers have been working hard at get the best features and you will see the result at the Auto Expo in New Delhi”, Saksena said.
