SBI Mutual Fund hikes stake in Renuka Sugars to 5.1%

for Rs 6.66 crore, increasing its stake in the company marginally to over 5 per cent.

In a filing to the BSE, Renuka Sugars informed that SBI Mutual Fund, under its various schemes, has acquired 20 lakh shares of the company on January 17 this year through market transactions.

Following the acquisition of 20 lakh shares, SBI Mutual Fund's stake in Renuka Sugars has increased to 5.1 per cent from 4.8 per cent.

Renuka Sugars' promoters held a 38.06 per cent stake as of December 31, 2011.

Renuka Sugars operates 11 mills globally, with a total crushing capacity of 20.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), or 94,520 tonnes crushed per day (TCD).

The company operates seven sugar mills in India with a total crushing capacity of 7.1 MTPA, or 35,000 TCD, and two port-based sugar refineries with a capacity of 1.7 MTPA.

Shares of the company settled at Rs 34.60 on the BSE today, down by 0.14 per cent from their previous close.
