The former Price Waterhouse partner S Gopalkrishnan, arrested in connection with his alleged involvement in the Rs 7800 crore Satyam accounting fraud, on Friday got bail after being in jail for seventeen months. The Andhra Pradesh CID had arrested Gopalkrishnan, a signatory to the Satyam audit, on January 22, 2009.

Although PwC India had earlier suspended both Gopalakrishnan and S Talluri of their all responsibilities in the firm in the wake of the Satyam fraud, soon after the granting of bail by Andhra Pradesh High Court, PW, in an official communiqué said, “We are pleased that the Hon'ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh has granted bail to former Price Waterhouse partner S Gopalakrishnan. He was cooperating fully with all ongoing investigations concerning Satyam and as per Court's Order he will continue to comply and cooperate.”

PW had been auditing Satyam Computer since the quarter ended June 2000 till September 2008.
