To extend dealers to 5 from 3, including both metros, non-metros
Rolls Royce, head of business development (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) Herfried Hasenoehrl, who launched the company’s third dealership here on Wednesday, said while one dealer will be from the north, the other would be either from central or southern India. “We are in talks with a dealer in north and will soon close the deal. So, the first dealer will be in north, and the other one will be in central or south,” he said
Rolls-Royce, which sells six models in India, also plans to expand its bespoke initiative here to design cars as per customer specifications. For Rolls-Royce, which re-entered the Indian market in 2005 after an absence of 50 years, the return strategy hinges on increasing dealerships in metros as well as non-metro cities, said Hasenoehri.
“In the coming days we will announce more dealerships, both in metros and non-metros for increased sales and enhanced after sales service. Negotiations are on for these,” he said.
Hasenoehri said Rolls-Royce’s Hyderabad connection is not new. Mir Osman Ali Khan Siddiq, the VII Asaf Jah ruler and the last of the Nizam rulers reportedly purchased over 50 Rolls-Royce cars in his lifetime. His collection boasted of a Barker coach built Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, which was acquired in 1912 and was used a ceremonial coach.
Rolls-Royce also unveiled its Ghost Extended Wheelbase model, priced Rs 3.05 crore (inclusive of import taxes).
On the customer profile of Rolls-Royce, Hasenoehri said high net worth individual with liquid assets of around Rs 150 crore are likely to prefer the super luxury car. “We are not in a volume game. Each car is made or rather commissioned to customers’ preference,” he said, adding the company is hopeful of surpassing the over 2,700 sales mark of 2010 this year also.
