Persistent to build clinical instruments with US firm

“We are partnering and co-investing with Life Technologies Corporation to build new generation of instruments for clinical diagnostics to ensure a particular drug is useful for the patient or not,” said Anand Deshpande, chairman and managing director of Persistent Systems. He said it was an ongoing investment for three years, but declined to quantify.
The $3.6 billion Life Technologies Corporation is a leader in providing premier systems, consumables, and services in the molecular research and diagnostics space. The life sciences and healthcare business unit of Persistent Systems with over a decade experience, provides solutions to premier cancer research institutes, medical centres, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Deshpande said Persistent will be investing along with the FSG (fragment and sequence genomics) division of Life Technologies to build sequencing and fragment analysis software platform for capillary electrophoresis instrumentation that will be submitted for FDA approval.
