Sep 18 2009 , Chennai
In the agreement worth about Rs 90 crore, Perot Systems will provide full infrastructure management capabilities, data hosting, infrastructure support, project management support, help desk support and the implementation and clinical adoption of an electronic health records system. The integrated hospital information system and electronic records will allow access to complete patient information across MHC.
These advances are expected to enable MHC to improve the quality of care and patient healthcare delivery through better record accessibility, computerised physician order entry and care planning.
Max Healthcare operates eight medical centers and offers services in more than 30 disciplines. It has a capacity of 800 inpatient beds. MHC has plans to set up four large green field hospitals in the next two years.
“From late last year, we have been looking for domestic deals. One big goal of our company is to diversify our sources of revenue,” said Vardhman Jain, managing director of Perot Systems’ Insurance and Business Process Solutions group, in a recent interview with FC. The Texas-based $2.8-billion company (about Rs 14,400 crore) offers IT, BPO and infrastructure services primarily for the US health care and life insurance sectors.
Perot is banking on the assertion that the health care segment is fairly insulated from the economic slowdown. The Centre and most state governments have allocated thousands of crores of Rupees to improve health care services. Large private hospitals are also gearing up to meet global standards in services. Perot is pursuing opportunities through consortiums consisting IT hardware and software vendors.
