Otis plans to expand India production

Otis India said it is planning to expand its elevator factory in Bangalore to make it three times the size of the existing facility. The expansion has become necessary to enable the company to more effectively serve the Indian market, which is set to reach 70,000 units in the next three years.

The new 27,500 sq m manufacturing facility will incorporate Otis technologies from all over the world. The company will produce 10,000 units by 2012, including its ‘Gen2’ elevators.

Laurent Bruyère, MD, Otis India, said, “Our expanded facility will ensure that Otis is well-positioned to support India’s exponential growth with quality, locally produced elevators.”

Recently, Otis was selected to provide 63 elevators and escalators for Kohinoor Square, an office complex in Mumbai.
