Microsoft India's consumer and online biz head quits

Microsoft India's Managing Director for consumer and online business Hemant Sachdev has quit the firm.

"Hemant Sachdev, Managing Director - Consumer and Online, Microsoft India has decided to pursue a career outside Microsoft. His last day will be September 30, 2011," Microsoft said in an emailed statement today said.

The consumer and online business of Microsoft includes consumer software, Windows Mobile , Windows Live , MSN and the other online services and search businesses (Bing).

Prior to Microsoft, Sachdev has served at Bharti Airtel, McCann Erickson and Foote and Cone & Belding (FCB).

Some of his significant recognitions include Marketing Professional of the Year (2002), India's Achievers and Leadership Award for Excellence (2004), Best Marketing Strategy of the year - Retail (2004), India's Top Marketing Director Award (2006), among others.

In February this year, Microsoft India Chairman and Corporate Vice-President Ravi Venkatesan had resigned from the company to pursue opportunities outside Microsoft.
