Apart from superior diabetes and eye care facilities, the centres will also have diabetes-friendly cafe with demo kitchens, lifestyle and diabetes management counselling, pharmacies, stores for diabetes-friendly products and opticals.
“Each city will have a tertiary level hospital, a couple of secondary level centres and five to six outpatient centres. The level one diabetic care centres will follow top endocrinology and diabetic practices and will run programmes for prevention, early detection and management of the ailment,” said GSK Velu, chairman of Medfort Hospitals.
Medfort is also seeking collaboration with US-based medical research firm Mayo Clinic. Initially the faculty from Mayo Clinic will collaborate with the doctors at Medfort Hospitals, and later the two firms will explore ways to take the association further, said Velu.
The company had raised Rs 60 crore earlier from TVS Shriram and ePlanet Ventures. The remaining Rs 40 crore will be funded through debt and equity.
