ICICI Bank Managing Director and CEO Chanda Kochhar announced setting up of national data recovery centre in Jaipur for which the bank has acquired 11 acres of land in Mahindra SEZ. The centre would become operational by 2011.
The bank would set up a Financial Literacy and Credit Couselling Centre in Jaipur, she told reporters here.
ICICI has become the second largest bank of the country, having 2500 branches including 372 in Rajasthan itself, after the Bank of Rajasthan merger with itself, she said.
On the issue of merger, she said that all the 4,500 employees of the erstwhile BoR have received proper fitment and grades according to the rules and regulations of the bank.
"All the employees are now the family members of ICICI bank and there would be no retrenchment or Voluntary Retirement," she said.
Kochhar said that technology integration at the branch level would complete by October 15 this year, after that all the customers of erstwhile BoR can operate their accounts from the ICICI branches.
She launched the Hindi version of bank's website here.
"We have launched the Hindi version of the personal banking pages on our website to offer our customers the power to use technology for convenient banking," the bank said in a statement.
ICICI Bank's current website is among the 10 most visited banking and financial websites of the world, it said.
The Hindi website will also offer the entire range of banking services like money transfer, bill payment, open fixed deposits and placing requests for different types of services.
Kochhar also said that the bank would focus on financial inclusion in the state. It has been alloted 208 villages and to begin with, it has commenced enrollment through business correspondent model at Budhana village in Jhunjhunu district.
Kochhar said that existing rural development and self employment training centres at Udaipur and Jodhpur would be further strengthened
for their training capacity to create self employment opportunities among the rural youth.
Kochhar said that bank would focus on spreading quality education in the state, encouraged by fruitful result of the collaborative initiative it had started at Baran district two years ago. It has trained 4,200 teachers so far.
She also said that the bank would adopt patients wards at the government hospital in Jodhpur.
To commemorate the legacy of the erstwhile Bank of Rajasthan, ICICI has decided to retain the name of the building as 'Bank of Rajasthan Bhawan' and open a museum preserving documents and articles relating to BoR
