Income-Tax Department officials today conducted raids on four onion traders here to check hoarding of onion stock, official sources said.

The raids were carried out at Lasalgaon, Pimpalgaon Baswant and Nashik city, all major centres of onion production in North Maharashtra, they said.

Details of the raids were not available. The department's action came in the wake of soaring prices of onion in the last few weeks.
