Honda Cars sales up 88 per cent in August

Honda Cars India today reported 88 per cent increase in domestic sales in August 2014 at 16,758 units as against 8,913 units the same month last year.

Last month, the company sold 1,211 units of small car Brio, 9,198 units of compact sedan Amaze, 5,530 units of Mobilio and 757 units of the mid-sized sedan City, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.

Besides, the company sold 62 units of sports utility vehicle CRV.

In addition, the company exported a total of 460 units during the month.

HCIL Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen said:

"We are extremely happy to witness consistent growth for Honda cars month after month. The festive season has already set-in and will bring further cheer to the market. We are geared up for strong sales in coming months."

The company will resume production of its Honda City sedan from the 1st week of September 2014 and the car will now be manufactured at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
