Also over time, drugs will become smarter and innovative. Innovation vis-à-vis knowledge will be the key drivers for growth,” said Sandeep Sinha, deputy director-healthcare practice, Frost and Sullivan.

He further added that the market for self-monitoring devices will also increase and e-health initiatives will be of prime importance in the coming few years.

Agreed Nandakumar Jairam, chairman of Columbia Asia Hospitals, who said: “The methods of healthcare delivery will be the game changer for the healthcare sector in India. There will a gradual shift towards healthcare delivery at home, which is faster and cost effective.” Jairam added that to ensure every individual gets appropriate healthcare, segregation of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare is necessary.

Another noticeable trend is that with the rise in the cost of healthcare, the need for health insurance is also on the rise.

Further, India, which is already becoming a chosen destination for medical tourism, will see a huge surge in business.
