HCL Infosystems will provide an end-to-end ADSL 2+ Broadband Network on the Indian Railways enterprise Wide Area Network through RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a PSU under the Ministry of Railways, HCL Infosystems said in a statement.
No financial details were, however, divulged.
Through this solution, the Indian Railways will provide dedicated broadband high-speed Internet services to various Railway offices and residences across the country at 108 locations.
This will include the 16 Zonal Railway headquarters (HQ), 67 Divisional Railway HQs, the Railway's centralised training institutes and the Railway's production units, it said.
The company will be responsible for network design and planning, deployment and service roll-out and maintenance of the network.
"Indian Railways is a well trusted brand for the citizens of the country and we are pleased to be associated with them. We are confident that this solution will bring a revolution in the adoption of broadband solutions in the Indian Railways’ administration," HCL Infosystems Chief Operating Officer (Enterprise Business) Rajeev Asija said.
