Dell bets big on consulting services

Dell India is betting on IT infrastructure consulting services to further expand its offerings as an end-to-end solution provider. The PC maker has declared that it is witnessing significant traction for this service in the last few months.

“We started offering this service over three years ago but are seeing huge traction in the last six to eight quarters. We are getting customers from both large enterprises and SMEs,” said CV Venkata Subramanian, country head, Global Consulting Services, Dell India. The economic slowdown has not had much impact on this business. In fact, it has been positive as customers want to “consolidate, optimise and “simplify the IT footprint”, he said.

Until 2007, Dell was seen as a specialist hardware vendor in India. Since then, the company has changed its strategy to expand its revenue base. It has started offering end-to-end solutions to assess, design, build and manage IT infrastructure for customers. This ranges from end user computing solutions, data centre design, storage consolidation, as well as ‘virtualisation’ and unified messaging solutions.
