Automotive design firm DC Design, promoted by car designer Dilip Chhabria, has decided to set up a manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 50-60 crore, for its customised luxury cars in Gujarat that will also include its Avanti sports car.

"For the first time, we are planning a manufacturing facility of our products in a joint venture in Gujarat and it will be set up soon," said DC Design Founder and Promoter Dilip Chhabria while talking to media here today.

"A new facility, most probably in Ahmedabad, will also cater to our manufacturing need of first ever indigenous sports car Avanti," he added.

Initially, there is a plan to invest Rs 50-60 crore for the designer car facility, he said. The new manufacturing facility will focus on designing existing cars as per customers wishes. He already has designer car facility in Pune, Mumbai and Gurgaon.

He was here to announce the launch of DC Design new showroom in the city, which will be inaugurated on April 28, 2013, in a venture partnership with Abhidev Automotives.

Chhabria also said DC Design will start delivering Avanti from December this year. The company said it will be using proprietary parts from various car makers for the sports car.

"Manufacturing India's first super car is a daunting task but we are confident of delivering Avanti from December 2013 from our Pune plant," Chhabria said.

DC Design had displayed Avanti sports car in January 2012 at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi.

Talking about future planning in Gujarat, he said, "along with the manufacturing facility, we are also planning to establish a state-of-the-art design school for all the budding designers".

"Initially, within six months from now, we will launch a short-term course, may be online one, for designing and later once the facility and infrastructure is set up, we will have a full fledged training institute," said Director, Abhidev Automotives Shaunak Shah.

Dilip Chhabria Design Pvt Ltd was founded by Dilip Chhabria and has an over 600-strong portfolio of unique cars/ vehicles built and they are on road.
