COAI website hacked by Pakistani hackers

The website of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the apex body representing the GSM telecom operators, has been hacked by a group that calls itself the Pakistan Cyber Warrior. The hackers have pasted an offensive message on the website warning India of dire consequences, hinting at fresh trouble if the country meddles in Pakistan though it isn’t clear which issue are the hackers referring to.

An official of the COAI confirmed that the site had been hacked and said the organization was trying to remove the offensive page. “It was hacked about a week back and we have complained to our hosting server to remove the offending page,” said COAI’s Director General Rajan Mathews. VIA is the hosting server for COAI’s website, www.coai.com

The message, that was titled Hacked by Pakistan Cyber Warrior, read: “I will be your nightmare Indains (sic). Never try to f*** with Pakistan else whole nation will f*** you this time no mercy.” The hackers also posted a website address, www.pakistan bugs.com but the page was inaccessible.

There has been an increased incidence of hacking of Indian websites, including those of government bodies, by hackers claiming to be from Pakistan. In December, a group claiming itself as Pakistan Cyber Army, hacked into the website of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), leading to a shut down of the website. The security breach had prompted a security audit of other government websites, including the site set up by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for online registration of telemarketers as part of the new regulations governing commercial calls.
