Citi to hire Nomura's Banfield as M&A head

Financial services major Citigroup plans to hire Nomura Holdings' Colin Banfield as its head of mergers and acquisitions for the Asia Pacific region, says a media report.

Attributing to a person familiar with matter, The Wall Street Journal reported that Citigroup is hiring Nomura Holdings Inc's Colin Banfield as its head of mergers and acquisitions for the Asia Pacific region.

According to the publication, Citigroup is talking to Banfield, but a final decision has not been reached yet.

At Nomura, Banfield is co-head of investment banking, excluding Japan. He is also the head of Asian mergers and acquisitions outside Japan.

Both Citigroup and Nomura's spokesmen declined to comment on the matter.
