as its worldwide partner for application basis infrastructure management services.

The five year engagement will cover services such as maintenance and operations of the web infrastructure, content management, SAP Basis operations, IT for IT (the company's internal IT system) and the business intelligence systems of BMW Group, the city-headquartered IT major said.

"One of the key objectives of this partnership is delivery of reliable, efficient and predictable IT operations services", the NASDAQ-listed firm said in a statement.

Infosys said it will draw on its experience in infrastructure management services to help BMW gain additional benefit from its existing technology estate so that it can drive investments toward IT transformation and innovation programmes.

To support this engagement, Infosys will open a new delivery center in Munich which will form an integral part of a global service delivery team from the company.

Ashok Vemuri, Member of the Board, Global Head of Manufacturing and Engineering Services Infosys, said: "Infrastructure management is no longer just about short term efficiency and productivity gains.

It also requires a partner that can help build an IT organisation that is future relevant. Our new delivery centre in Munich will help us achieve this objective for BMW and allow us to expand our local presence in a key growth market."
