ALL Q3 profit up 54%

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has reported strong top line and bottom line growth for the December quarter, 2011 on improvement in volumes and average realisations.

For the third quarter, the company reported 54 per cent rise in net profit on strong Ebitda. Net profit grew to Rs 67 crore compared with Rs 43 crore in the same period previous year. Ebitda was up 27 per cent.

Company’s net sales rose 29 per cent to Rs 2,880 crore compared with Rs 2,227 crore in the year-ago period on the back of 26 per cent rise in total vehicle sales at 23,175 units, including significant volumes of LCV Dost during the quarter.

However, the company’s profit and sales were down significantly compared with the Q2 quarter. The company had posted net profit of Rs 154 crore and sales of Rs 3,095 crore for the September quarter. For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2011, the company’s net profit declined about eight per cent at Rs 307 crore from Rs 333 crore in the same period a year ago. However, net sales grew 16 per cent at Rs 8,470 crore from Rs 7,289 crore in the year-ago period.
