accounts, Acer said it will be adding 17 new server models to its portfolio, along with technology partners Intel and Microsoft. The company aims to gain 14 per cent of the server market by 2010 year end.

Presently, the company has presence in two server categories mainly in the Tower and Rack form factor. Acer server has an installed base of over 37,000 units in India.

The company said its aggressive expansion plan in the server market will help to spread out its business to gain more profits.

In 2009, the company’s total shipments stood at 39.8 million, while the turnover was $17.9 billion.

Mukund, Managing Director, Acer India, said, “With the current economic environment, it is imperative for growing companies to provide end to end technology solution in order to be at pace with the current competition in the market. As we understand the importance of providing technology solution to our customers, we are expanding into the server market.”

Acer plans to launch a range of 17 new models under Tower, Rack, Density Optimized, and Blade server categories. These products will mainly aim at enterprise, SMB, BFSI, government, public sector, education, telecom, and other corporate sectors.
