India's software prowess has once again been tested and proved when a team of engineers at the Bangalore-based R&D centre of Chinese telecom giant Huawei provided 24/7 support for the telecommunication needs of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
"We provided two solutions -- Huawei India R & D and Datacom Management System that were developed at Huawei India exclusively for the Olympic Games," a company spokesperson told PTI.
"Besides, a team of engineers at the India R&D centre provided 24/7 support for the Olympics," he said referring to Huawei's cooperation with China Mobile and China Netcom -- the two official telecom partners for the Beijing Olympics.
Huawei India R & D (HTIPL) platform teams had significantly contributed to China Mobile in their major initiative for deploying next generation solutions and services for extensive usage during Olympics, the company spokesperson said.
HTIPL has developed a number of platforms and components that are widely integrated by Huawei products and used by global carriers including China Netcom and China Mobile, contributing to the success of the Beijing Olympics.
The network management solutions used for new feature upgradation of Datacom Core Backbone Network, with minimal downtime and data loss.
China Mobile also used Huawei DMS (Datacom Management System) product family extensively for its backend routing and high speed data transfer in its vast mobile network.
It deployed Huawei's telecom analysis and report solution for the crucial activity of monitoring the network's health, facilitating it to generate Call Usage summary and Trunk and Load status reports, the spokesperson said.
