Actor Akshay Kumar will set the stage on fire with a performance on the opening day of the World Kabaddi League to be held in London’s O2 Arena on August 9. An avid sport enthusiast, Kumar co-owns the Khalsa Warrior franchise, one of the eight participating teams in the tournament. “I am quite excited about World Kabaddi League. My performance will be dedicated to all the Kabaddi fans who come together to cheer the teams,” said Kumar.

India’s star marksman Gagan Narang won a silver in men’s 50m rifle prone at the 20th Commonwealth Games on Monday. Narang, who has won four medals each in both the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games but in other events, lost out the gold to Warren Potent of Australia by 0.7 points. Narang collected 203.6 in the 20-shot final round, while gold-winner Potent scored 204.3. Kenneth Parr of England bagged the bronze.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will soon shoot for a TV campaign to promote Maharashtra’s fruit produce after being appointed as the brand ambassador for the state horticulture ministry. The Yudh star announced it on Twitter on Sunday. “We have done a few print campaigns in this regard but on August 3, we are going to do some work for the TV as well,” Bachchan said at an event in New Delhi to mark India’s triumph over polio.
