Cebaco is a large tropical island in the Pacific side of Central and South America. Cebaco is located in the buffer zone of the Coiba Marine Park, which is a World Heritage site and is very close to the mainland of Panama. Marine life in Cebaco is beautiful; from the property one can see whales with their offspring during the season.
The topography of Cebaco consists of rolling hills that offer great views of the island and the ocean, many dramatic and exuberant rock formations on the beaches, waterfalls and crystal clear creeks and lush palm trees right up to the beaches. The coastline is winding with little coves, secluded beaches and sensational cliffs.
The property has natural forests and wildlife. It also has a private airstrip. Fifty per cent of Playa Grande, which is the largest and widest beach, is part of the property. This beach has a natural port and offers extreme surf breaks.
Approximately 480 hectare of the property has been reforested with teak. The reforestation took place over three years in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The teak reforestation by itself was not viable as the soil conditions are of medium to low for growing high value tropical hardwood, not suitable for teak but good for native species.
Cebaco island is located in the gulf of Montijo in the Veraguas province of the Republic of Panama. The island can be reached by boat. From Panama City you drive down the Interamericana to Santiago (2.5 hours/250 km).
From Santiago you drive straight down to Mariato (60 km) and a boatride of 40 minutes takes you to the island. Flying from Panama City takes approximately 45 minutes.
