in defeating Dado Hojo in the Bollywood masala flick Chandni Chowk to China, but it may not have been so easy if he had to take on the legendary Bruce Lee. Nonetheless, they would both have made more money than fight each other by joining hands and sharing their expertise. Indian mobile game developers are teaming up with global players to produce world class mobile games – especially for the new generation iPhones and iPod touch.

Recently, Indiagames.com was awarded the People’s Choice Award at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, Spain, for its game ‘Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors.’ The game has been developed jointly by Indiagames and Barcelona-based Digital Legends.

Chief executive officer of Indiagames Vishal Gondal said: “Given the increasing popularity of the iPhone medium for gaming, Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors is definitely something to look out for in the coming months. A game based on an international legend like Bruce Lee will appeal to millions of gamers worldwide.”

He said Indiagames would develop more games as it is “constantly expanding its presence on the iPhone platform.”

The Bruce Lee game offers facial animations, custom soundtrack, accelerometer, tilt camera control and particle and environment effects. There are nine opponents in the game including Shen Lo, Sin Fu, The Chief, Brick Davis, Ken Goodall and British Sailor.

Similarly, Reliance Big Entertainment led Jump games has, in consent with Putt Putt, recently released "Putt-Putt 3D Golf"’ game for iPhones and iPod touch.

“We would release four new iPhone games for the Indian audience in the next one month,” said Amit Khanduja, executive vice-president at Jump Games.

The game developer and publisher, which offers many games for the iPhone platform including Putt Putt Golf, The Vampire Assistant, BMX Cunning Stunts 3D, ICC World Twenty 20 England 09, Air Force Reaction and one on Cartoon Network character Ben 10, is not in hurry to make collaborations for tech-how.

“We have our own expertise for making games at different platforms. What we look for is different ideas and the attractive concepts. The game on putt-putt mini series is famous in Europe and the US,” he said.

With playing options such as Quick Play and Pass & Play, Trial Time and Championship, the 3D golf game offers 90 holes across five challenging courses with five hilarious characters, including Howdy Partner and Tee Hee Hee.

Nazara Technologies, which is India’s leading mobile game developer, is not sitting back and watching. The company has tied up with several global players, including EA Mobile, Digital Chocolate and Players X to deliver mobile games on mobile phone. EA Mobile is a mobile gaming arm of world’s leading sports videogame maker Electronic Arts.

CEO of Nazara Technologies Nitish Mittersain believes that Indian mobile gaming companies are not only collaborating with global players to generate better output and revenues but are also strengthening their knowledge for developing games for different platforms. Therefore, the technical know how is not only shared for PSP games but also for the iPhone and iPad games.

“Both iPhone games and PSP games have their respective audiences. iPhone is primarily used by professionals, thus restricting the popularity of games to this segment and people who are always on move. PSP games, on the other hand, are popular across different segment of users ranging from college student to professionals. But, as the popularity of the Apple iPhone continues to grow, we can expect more iPhone games being released in the future,” he said. Nazara is working on many mobile projects including Tomb Rider, Devi, Hanuman Returns, Towerblox, toon Cricket and Wolverine.

Gaming attention may not shift to the handset any time soon, but it’s one more option available for gaming enthusiasts on the move.
