of Cyber Regulation Appellate Tribunal to look into the issues of data security and data privacy. The tribunal would look into the cases involving cyber security space, specifically technology breach.

This would work as a regulatory body for the IT industry, which will monitor the security and privacy aspects of IT and BPO companies. It would also promote e-governance and e-commerce.

Information security solutions provider Safe Net had highlighted the need of setting up a regulatory body. Rana Gupta, head, Safe Net said: “Every company follows different standards like the ISO 9000 or the CMM level 3 or 4. There is no universal benchmark being followed. Setting up of a body will ensure faith and reliability in the Indian IT industry.”

Pavan Duggal, Supreme Court advocate and cyber law expert said: “We need a regulator to ensure robust growth for the industry.”
