Indian Oil plans to hire 250 people this year

State-run refiner Indian Oil Corporation plans to recruit 250 people this year primarily to fill the vacancies in its engineering division, a top company official has said.

India's largest oil firm would deploy the new staff in all its 10 refineries across the country, Indian Oil Director (HR) V C Agrawal told PTI here.

"We plan to recruit 250 people through open recruitment. Of the total new recruits, 200 will be engineers. The new employees are likely to join the company by June," Agrawal said.

The oil major is mulling to give a 15 per cent salary hike to its employees this year as well as an increase in their bonus, he said. Last year, IOC, which has been accorded the `Maharatna' status, had given a 15 per cent wage hike.

The blue-chip PSU hired 350 people in the current fiscal from the top educational institutes of the country. These comprised chartered accountants, management graduates, scientists and research students.

"The 350 recruits are undergoing a six-month of training (for entry-level) and are expected to formally join the company by June," Agrawal said.

Indian Oil, which owns and operates 10 of 19 refineries in the country, currently has 34,158 employees.
