StoneFly plans to enter India’s IP storage systems market

StoneFly, US-based supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems, is looking at entering the Indian market, according to industry insiders.

The company is understood to be looking for distribution partners to kickstart its sales channel in India where it sees growing demand for IP SAN appliances, private cloud computing, multi-tenant storage arrays and other virtualisation software.

The company is also said to be considering the possibility of setting up a sales office and a R&D facility to provide technical support for customers once its sales channel is up and running.

The company is keen to find partners who can provide sales and distribution support for its line of storage systems targeted at mid-tier customers. StoneFly’s key competitors in the US mid-market such as Dell, Intransa Systems and HP-owned LeftHand Networks already have a presence in India.

Key players in the Indian mid-market include 3PAR, Cirtas, Hitachi Data Systems and Mach Data Systems, which has a presence in India through distributors.
