Sify bets on e-projects to hike profits

Sify Technologies is betting big on e-governance projects to improve its revenue and profits. The company is working with both the state and central governments for services including data centre, applications development and network services.

“Working with the government and revenues from such services have the potential to scale up significantly,” said Raju Vegesna, board chairman, CEO and MD of Sify. “We are now positioned as a complete services provider with the network, hosting, applications, managed voice and systems integration services. Telcos do not offer this range.”

Sify also partnered with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing to work for Punjab government. “The market for internet still has a potential of at least 100-million English-speaking users and much more in vernacular languages,” he added.
