SAP, a business software solutions firm headquartered in Germany, on Thursday said it is looking to acquire Swiss software applications developer SAF AG.

“We have recently approached SAF for acquisition. We will be looking to close the size of the deal under $100 million,” Ranjan Das, MD, SAP Indian Subcontinent, told Financial Chronicle. Das did not say how soon the deal could be finalised.

SAF (Simulation, Analysis and Forecasting) provides software products to retailers and wholesalers. Earlier this week, SAP had announced on its website an intent to make a public offer to purchase all shares in SAF. SAP does not hold any shares in SAF.

SAP, which had a turnover of €2.39 billion in first quarter of 2009, has 80,000 customers globally and 4,000 in India.
