Infosys and NVIDIA join hands for new tech

Infosys Technologies and computer graphics major NVIDIA on Wednesday announced a partnership to develop

a new technology in the field of high performance computing. Called CUDA, the new technology is the world’s only C language environment that enables developers to write software to solve computational problems at high speeds, NVIDIA said.

Under this partnership, an Infosys-Nvidia technology centre will be set up at the Infosys campus in Bangalore. According to NVIDIA, the CUDA technology is designed to allow application developers to tap the unexploited power potential of a graphics processing unit.

Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO, NVIDIA Corporation. “It is completely clear that GPUs are now general purpose parallel computing processors with amazing graphics, and not just graphics chips any more,” he said.

Subu Goparaju, Infosys’ head of software engineering and technology labs said, “Multi-core and parallel programming are becoming important for high performance computing needs of certain classes of applications.”
