The company's modern mineral processing laboratory and pilot plant is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to carry out research and development (R&D) activities, IBM Controller General C S Gundewar said, adding that it is doing extremely well on the professional front.

The lab is capable of carrying out R&D studies in the fields of mineral beneficiation, mineral characterisation, ore analysis and ore-dressing, he said.

IBM attracts clients from Japan, Germany and Canada, besides state-owned mining companies in Oman, Bhutan and Vietnam, he said.

It also caters to mining and geology departments in states such as Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Manipur, Orissa, Rajasthan, Sikkim and West Bengal, Gundewar said.

Private sector companies such as Ambuja, ACC, Benani, Keshoram and Madras Cements, besides Bharat Aluminium, Chowgule Sesa, Salgaonkar and Ispat Industries, also approach IBM for mineral beneficiation, he added.
