Anti-virus firm to market packages via radio

Anti-virus company K7 Computing plans to aggressively market its consumer packages this year. The company will spend about Rs 8 crore on mass marketing, mainly through FM radio. K7 aspires to replicate its success in Japan by exploring new territories in German-speaking Europe and English-speaking Asian countries.

“We have tied up with a sales partner, Proxma to market our anti-virus software in Germany and Switzerland. The formal launch will happen in October,” said John Devasahayam, executive director of K7. “We are also in talks with sales partners in countries including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. The local partners will take care of distribution and first-level support,” he added.

Apart from expanding to other countries, the company will increase its reach within India in the next year. K7 is in talks with internet service providers including Airtel, Tata Indicom and BSNL for distribution tieups. At least one tieup will materialise in the next one month, Devasahayam said.
