3G bids hit Rs 4,831 cr, Gujarat sees highest bid

22 circles Gujarat received the highest bid at Rs 487.76 crore, with three operators in the fray, followed by Delhi at Rs 464.54 crore with four bidders. Bids for Mumbai touched Rs 442.39 crore.

Maharashtra and Andra Pradesh closed at Rs 451.27 crore. On Tuesday the pan-India spectrum bid closed at Rs 4,582 crore. The bid price of Rs 4831 crore is 38 per cent up than the base price of Rs 3,500 crore.

Altogether six rounds of bids were completed today. 28 rounds of bids have been completed in the last five days of auctions.

Five circles failed to attract interest from 3G bidders on the fifth day. Orissa, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal and Punjab did not receive any bids for 3G spectrum.

There will be multiple, round-the-clock auction simultaneously for 22 circles. There are three and four slots of 3G spectrum.

The government has set a target to raise up to Rs 35,000 crore from the auction of spectrum for 3G and BWA spectrum.

The department has fixed the reserve price for broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum at Rs 1,750 crore. There are three slots for BWA. The auction for BWA spectrum is scheduled two days after the 3G auctions are concluded.

Altogether nine applicants have submitted their application to bid for 3G. These players include Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Idea, Reliance, Tata Teleservices Vodafone, S Tel, Videocon and Etisalat DB Telecom.
