EdServ forays into mobile applications space

Education services company EdServ has forayed into the mobile application space with the launch of "HumThum.Com", an e-learning tool that can be accessed from a smartphone.

HumThum.Com has been developed in-house by EdServ, which provides educational support services like doubt clearing, tutor search and assessment, career services and local area based services for students, a company statement here said.

"With the rapid adoption of smartphones in India, especially among the student segment, we believe we have a clear first-mover advantage with the launch of this first-of-its-kind educational mobile application, whereby we have moved our entire educational content to the mobile, enabling students to access our educational services anytime, anywhere," EdServ Chairman S Giridharan said.

Stating that the company has invested $1 million over the last two years on developing the application, Giridharan said the application would initially be available on Samsung smartphones and would later be extended to other phones.

"This service will be available in Samsung smartphones, but our objective is to offer this service in all mobile phones. We will also tie-up with mobile operators (for offering this service)," he said.

The Chennai-based company was aiming revenues of Rs 200 crore over the next three years from this initiative, he added.
